For those who prefer their leather deep and understated, dark brown offers the same full-grain, vegetable-tanned character in a tone that hides the marks of daily travel a little longer.
It still ages, just quieter.
The same construction, the same YKK hardware, the same decades-long lifespan as our signature cognac, in a shade built for those who like their statement subtle.

THE LEATHER
Our leather is vegetable-tanned. A process that uses natural plant extracts rather than synthetic chemicals, and takes weeks rather than days.
It produces a firmer, more structured hide that softens and gains character with use.
The natural grain, variations in shade, and subtle surface marks you may notice are not imperfections. They are the fingerprint of the individual animal, preserved through the tanning process. No two bags are identical.
Over time, the leather develops a patina: a deepening of colour and richness that reflects the bag's history.
A well-used Mikkelsen bag at ten years looks better than it did the day it arrived.
PRODUCTION AND ETHICS
We believe quality and responsibility are the same commitment.
Our bags are produced in BSCI-audited facilities and independently verified for fair labour conditions, safe working environments, and ethical business practices.
- BSCI audited production
Independently verified social compliance - LWG audited tannery
Leather Working Group environmental standard - Vegetable tanning
Natural process, no heavy metal compounds - No leather waste
Full hide used. No offcuts discarded
CARE
Vegetable-tanned leather is low-maintenance, but rewards with a little care.
- Wipe down with a dry or slightly damp cloth after use.
- Condition with a natural leather balm every 6-12 months to keep the hide supple and deepen the patina.
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight or wet storage.
Small scratches and scuffs will fade naturally and in time, they become part of the bag's story.
