The Cognac Travel Set by Mikkelsen Copenhagen
Some things simply belong together. The Cognac Travel Bag and Cognac Toiletry Bag were designed as a pair from the start. Same hide, same tannery, same craftsmanship philosophy, so that everything you pack moves as one considered whole.
Both pieces are made from full grain vegetable-tanned cowhide, tanned slowly with natural plant extracts at an LWG-certified tannery. That means no chrome and no plastic coating. The result is a warm, luminous cognac tone that deepens and personalizes with use. Every bag is produced at a BSCI-audited factory under verified fair working conditions, with YKK zippers used throughout for hardware that will outlast the bag itself.
What's included
- Cognac Travel Bag (51 × 26 × 26 cm). Approx. 34 litres, with a zip-close inner pocket for documents and valuables, two reinforced carry handles, and an adjustable, removable shoulder strap
- Cognac Toiletry Bag (24 × 12 × 6 cm). Water-resistant polyester twill lining, one inner zip pocket, sized to slide into the travel bag without adding bulk
Designed in Denmark
Mikkelsen Copenhagen is a Danish leather goods brand built on a single conviction: full grain vegetable-tanned leather, sourced and produced with full transparency, made to be used for decades rather than seasons. Every piece is designed in Denmark and crafted through a certified supply chain. From tannery to finished bag.
Please read before purchasing: Natural leather characteristics
Full grain leather retains the natural surface of the hide. You may notice subtle grain variation, growth marks, and slight colour nuances between the two bags in your set. These are not defects. They are the mark of genuine, unprocessed leather, and part of what makes each set one of a kind.
Care
Wipe both pieces clean with a damp cloth. Condition occasionally with a natural leather balm (beeswax or lanolin-based). Avoid prolonged direct sunlight or heavy rain. With minimal care, this set will last decades and only look better for it.

THE LEATHER
Our leather is vegetable-tanned. A process that uses natural plant extracts rather than synthetic chemicals, and takes weeks rather than days.
It produces a firmer, more structured hide that softens and gains character with use.
The natural grain, variations in shade, and subtle surface marks you may notice are not imperfections. They are the fingerprint of the individual animal, preserved through the tanning process. No two bags are identical.
Over time, the leather develops a patina: a deepening of colour and richness that reflects the bag's history.
A well-used Mikkelsen bag at ten years looks better than it did the day it arrived.
PRODUCTION AND ETHICS
We believe quality and responsibility are the same commitment.
Our bags are produced in BSCI-audited facilities and independently verified for fair labour conditions, safe working environments, and ethical business practices.
- BSCI audited production
Independently verified social compliance - LWG audited tannery
Leather Working Group environmental standard - Vegetable tanning
Natural process, no heavy metal compounds - No leather waste
Full hide used. No offcuts discarded
CARE
Vegetable-tanned leather is low-maintenance, but rewards with a little care.
- Wipe down with a dry or slightly damp cloth after use.
- Condition with a natural leather balm every 6-12 months to keep the hide supple and deepen the patina.
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight or wet storage.
Small scratches and scuffs will fade naturally and in time, they become part of the bag's story.
